Over its seventy-year aviation history, Lympne Airfield was equally important
to the military and civil sectors at different periods.
Opened in 1916, it was integral in two world wars, supporting events
and campaigns in Western Europe.
During peacetime, it was the choice of famous aviators, airline operators and private flying.
Lympne saw it all – parachuting, gliding, air racing, air shows, car-carrying aircraft and early jets.
