Trackpad Model Foto Focus

Danish Leopard 2A5DK and QRF

Our latest Model Foto Focus book is a bumper 134 pages (nearly 500 photos) giving the reader a thorough exploration of the exterior of Denmark's main battle tank. Written by Danish modeller and Leopard fan, Bobber Moller, and featuring in-theatre photos from Afghanistan taken by Carl Schulze, this is the most thorough look at this important tank in print.

With the end of the Cold War and a change in Danish foreign policy to participate more in international coalitions, the Danish Defence went through a major reconstruction in the 1990s which led to major cut-backs in the Cold War structure of Danish military.
In 1993, it was decided to form a new deployment 4,500 man brigade called the Danish International Brigade. The German Leopard 2 was chosen to be the main tank of the new brigade.

The Leopard 2 was chosen over the US-made M1A1, and it was immediately decided that the Leopards would be 2A5DK standard. The Danish modification requirements included both new and existing standard 2A5 upgrades.

In October 2007, Denmark deployed a platoon of Leopard 2A5 and support vehicles to the Helmand province in Afghanistan in order to support the Danish ISAF battalion. Read all about the Danish use of Leopard 2 in Helmand in Thomas Antonsen’s brilliant and very informative Trackpad Publishing book, Danish Leopards in Helmand – from the crew’s perspective.

What do you say?

Bobber Møller has written a reference book where it is clear that model builders are the target audience. Maximum attention has been paid to the detail so that any model builder around the world must be able to build a correct and accurate Danish Leopard 2A5. It must be said to be far beyond the norm. The author has learnt the solution on how an armour reference book should be screwed together. In my opinion, it is a must if you are going to build a Danish Leopard 2.

Hands down, Trackpad Publishing’s Danish Leopard 2A5DK and QRF book is by far the most definitive collection of walk around photographs of these main battle tanks.  The authors have taken into consideration the Leopard fanatic and modeler’s lust for details and photographed pretty much every square inch of these battlefield behemoths.  There are no interior photographs contained in the book. However, the authors have made up for the lack of interior shots by providing the most comprehensive walk around look at the Danish Leopard 2A5DK and QRF MBT’s.

This book excels with many high-quality photos. The authors highlight all details, which are brought to the point informatively in the respective pictures. Detailed documentation by the authors, this book makes a successful reference to the Leopard 2A5DK. For the model builder or the technically interested - definitely recommend!

Very little of the exterior has not been photographed and the general wear and tear of these powerful machines is conveyed in full colour with each photo informatively captioned. Once again, if you like Leopards this is a must and for those who like to have another general reference
book to aid their weathering imagination, this book will also serve you well.
